Profile with LEGAL, then generate the 3D LUT, and apply a videoscale passblack filter.
That makes sense, thanks.
I am curious though, is there a big difference between profiling with Legal and then using the Pass Black filter compared to profiling with Extended and then using the Pass Black SW filter? It seems like with the Legal way it optimizes for the Legal range and then extrapolates above reference white while the Extended way optimizes the entire 16-255 range. Is there something I'm missing and doing the Extended way would be wrong with madVR HTPC? Maybe you only get the right gamma if you do it the Legal way?
