Another thing is after LUT generation it says 97% of the test gamut is achieved is this normal.

As you have not provided any profiles to look at, impossible to say.

I will try again and provide the profiles when I get chance the reason I haven't is because I'm trying to learn as I'm new to this.

Please find attached a copy of my profiles.

Preconfig was the first profile after setting the TV settings.

1DLUT contains a small white balance correction and was used to make the 1DLUT. The verify profile is a verification after upload.

3DLUT is the cube profile used to create the 3DLUT and again verify is the verification after upload.

Thanks for taking a look for me.

Based on your workflow, the profiles all look as expected.
Difficult to spot any issues, other than the TV can't make 100% blue - so you will not have 100% gamut coverage.
Also, what patch size are you using?
The black level seem high - unless you have set it high, as you mentioned before.
The Verification profiles are obviously smaller, so can't see any fine detail/granularity.
And I would probably skip the 1D LUT, as mentioned.

I was using a 10% window and the black level was set at the minimum where 17 was just visible on the clipping pattern although I did make a small adjustment to the white balance as mentioned. So I'm thinking it must be a bug in the firmware?

As the TV is a FALD it is usual to use full screen patterns.
But, that is NOT a guarantee the results will be any better.
There are always compromises with any different display technologies - FALD or those that suffer ABL have their own, different, issues.

The calibration was done with local dimming off though so I got a good underlying calibration for the local dimming to work on top of. If I do it with local dimming on will it not mess with the results and make a worse calibration or is there things I can to to mitigate the issue.

They are all questions for which you will need to define the best answer for your needs.
All will alter the calibration in different ways...
But yes, with Auto Dimming off the black will be higher regardless - so that makes sense.

Welcome to the world of calibration

I was just wondering what options you took when you calibrated your C855 model maybe I can take some inspiration from that.

Thanks again.

We tested all the different workflow options.
That is how we know all provide different results - as expected.
Obviously we can't recommend one approach over another, as your desired end results will likely be different.

Is it normal for the gamma to go from 2.4 to around 2.1 as it goes up the greyscale.

That will depend on patch size, local dimming on/off, etc., settings.
And do you mean pre-post calibration?
If post calibration, and if the TV still has all the exact same settings it had during the calibration workflow, the calibration should be accurate and consistent.
