Hi everyone,
I'm Stefano, the author of LightSpace connect for (iOS/macOs/Android)
I'm looking for beta testers for PatternSpace, a next generation test pattern generator that runs on macOS. It has two main modes:
Pattern Library: a built-in library of GPU-rendered test patterns you can send to any connected display, including:
- Solid fills, color bars (3/6/12/continuous, horizontal and vertical), step wedges, wipes, and gradients in RGB, HSL, and HSV
- Geometry patterns: checkerboards, grids, lines, squares, points, distortion targets
- Gamma checker and gamma lines patterns (per-channel)
- Clipping patterns (high/low, per-channel)
- Check patterns: overscan, convergence, resolution wedges, contrast, length, composite
Generator mode: acts as a pattern window target for external calibration software, receiving frames over the network using protocols compatible with:
- ColourSpace
- CalMAN
- PGenerator (in alpha)
The app integrates with ColorSync — it can apply or bypass the active ICC profile on the output window, and it logs profile changes as you switch displays or reassign profiles.
What I need testers to check- Pattern accuracy and rendering correctness across different display types (SDR, HDR, wide gamut)
- ColorSync behavior — does enabling/disabling the profile on the patch window behave as expected? Does it correctly reflect the active profile when you switch displays or reassign one in System Settings?
- Multi-display workflows — selecting a target display, same-display mode (when the control window and patch window share one screen), display connect/disconnect handling
- Network generator mode — connecting PatternSpace as a patch window target from ColourSpace, CalMAN, or PGenerator and verifying frames render correctly
- General stability, edge cases, anything that feels off
Ideal tester profile- macOS user (the app is macOS-only)
- Familiar with ColorSync and ICC profiles — you know how to assign profiles in System Settings, understand the difference between tagged and untagged output, and can tell when a profile is or isn't being applied
- Comfortable giving specific, reproducible feedback
