Hi, it looks like Atomos may be releasing a spectro; there's very few details about it. They just announced it at IBC. No mention of the spectral bandwidth nm. Based on our experiences with their monitors and knowing their price points, I bet it'll be 10nm.

Probably not dissimilar to their announced Pro 2710 Color Grading Monitor...
Has anything they have provided actually been any good?

We will have to wait and see if Atomos can build a professional grade monitor with an internal pipeline that ensures accurate monitoring. If they provide a probe, one that has the right spec components to maintain that accuracy of color and luminance. Unfortunately, previous products would suggest this might be a challenge, as with other on set monitoring products. The gamuts below are from 7-inch devices from Atomos and SmallHD, neither one with an acceptable blue primary.

We can hope they get ColourSpace integration, allowing the performance of the monitor to be open for all to see, that would be the best way to demonstrate the quality of the products!

SmallHD Indie 7 has a similar gamut to your picture.

The SmallHD 702 Touch has a larger gamut coverage, but it doesn't cover 100% of REC.709 Blue Saturation.

The SmallHD Cine 7 has larger gamut coverage than the 702 Touch in the blue domain, but it does not cover 100% of REC.709 Blue Saturation.

Back in the day, Martin Euredjian was one of the first, if not the first, to introduce an LCD flat-screen grading monitor, with his then company eCinema.
Around 2002 he developed a dual layer LCD monitor - years before the mainstream monitor manufacturers...
It will be interesting to see if Martin can fix Atomos's colour issues.
We have been in touch with Atomos for some years, as they did ask about ColourSpace Integration.
Unfortunately, Atomos have not as yet been able to provide a viable API/SDK.
Maybe that will be possible now?
