Don't believe the marketing hype regarding any i1D3 probe or variant...

RollsRoyce
I've just had a look at their page on the Calibrite probes, and they are able to be used, so no issue with the SDK, etc.
(The SDK will be identical to their branded version of the probe, just with a different lock key.)
But, they are stating that the Calibrite probes will likely have issues...

So, the question is, have they deliberately hobbled the operation of the Calibrite probes vs. their branded versions...

Just received a marketing email from Calman.
Guess they are not happy with the capability of ColorSpace to accurately use an ND filter as discussed in this thread.
They really have gone out of their way to try to debunk something that any user can simply test for themselves, as I have, and prove it works just as Steve has stated.
I guess they just don't understand the power of ColorSpace's probe matching & split profiling capabilities - as Calman has nothing similar.

I saw that too.
Did make me snigger.

BTW, JETI and Colorimetry Research have been selling ND filters for their spectroradiometers for a long time.

This is a strange situation, and one that I've kinda ignored for some time...
But, some of the rather dodgy marketing being used by Calman means it is probably time this gets a mention.
(Their attempt at debunking the use of ND filters is a good example of this.)

One of the calibration companies based in LA is owned by the product manager for Calman.
And the calibration company has multiple ColourSpace licenses they have used for years for end client calibration.

A very strange situation that many are obviously not aware of.
Make of that what you will.

The use of ND filters is a very common and well understood approach to use with any probes, and virtually all manufacturers use and recommend them, as well as using cosine diffusers.
With ColourSpace the potential benefit is extended due to the unique probe matching capabilities, such as Multi-Point Volumetric Matching (MPVM), which no other calibration system can do, combined with the split-profiling capability, which is again totally unique to ColourSpace.
Calman's marketing really is a very poor attempt at disinformation.
(A lot like the hyped marketing for the gaudy gold C6...)

All their questionable 'paper' does is highlight the specific limitations of Calman, not ColourSpace...
Why they cannot provide viable and valid information on calibration workflows is a bit of a mystery...

That is shocking!
How can Calman market their product in the way they do under such a situation?
