Hello,
I don't currently own any of the Colourspace products, but I'm thinking about getting the rental licence to calibrate my new TV using x-rite colorimeter (I think they are now called calibrite with their home products?). However after reading https://lightillusion.com/tcl_manual.html I think the process is a bit complicated than with most calibrating software I've used before. Is there a step-by-step guide for dummies on how to calibrate a TCL tv? Is there no automated process to calibrate with a colorimeter?

The LUT Generation is automated, as outlined in the User Guide.
You then just upload the LUTs as the guide also explains.
This is the same for any LUT based TV, such as LG, except you use a USB stick for the upload.

The steps for HDR, etc., are basically the same as for any other TV that has calibration capabilities.
You again upload the LUTs - 1D only - and the matrix file, again as per the guide.

It really is simple.

To learn about Profiling and LUT Generation, see the link 3D LUT Calibration Guide.
The procedure is basically the same for any display, and will teach you a lot about calibration.

Staying on topic with TCL calibration just not the C855. I ordered a US model QM7 (2024) which I think is similar to the C765. Have you heard of any one being able to use the lut function on the US versions?

Only the TCL TV models listed on the TCL User Guide page have user accessible 3D LUTs.

Hello,
it is my first post on Forum, so Hi everybody

could somebody help me to find PID number please?
I tried to do this, but in System/About/Product Information I was not be able to see something started from PID...
Do I something wrong or maybe this info is hidden?

PID stands for 'Product ID'.

Hi everyone,
I am performing an HDR calibration on a TCL 85C855 (2024 Mini-LED, Pentonic 700 platform) using ColourSpace and PGenerator. My goal is to generate the internal calibration files: PIDxxxx_HDR_Movie_POST1D.1tcl and PIDxxxx_HDR_Movie_CMS.dat.
For the characterisation stage, I have already set the TV's GUI "HDR EOTF" toggle to Disabled, as per the calibration guidelines.
I would like to clarify the correct settings for profiling and LUT generation for this specific chassis:
1. Target Address Space for Profiling:
When performing the characterisation to generate the .1tcl (1D LUT) and .dat (CMS) files, which Target Gamut/EOTF should be set in ColourSpace?

Should I use Rec.2020 Gamma 2.2?
Or should I use P3 D65 Gamma 2.2 (since the panel's native gamut is closer to P3)?

2. LUT Generation Settings:
When it comes to generating the final correction data for the internal TCL formats:

What should be the Source and Destination settings in the LUT Tools?
Should the Source be set to HDR ST2084 Rec2020, even though the characterisation was performed targeting a Power 2.2 EOTF?

Setup Details:

TV: TCL 85C855 (European model, v624 Firmware)
Probe: i1 Display Pro (with matching Correlation Files for TCL C855)
TPG: PGenerator (direct HDMI, Legal Levels 16-235)

Thank you for your assistance!

1) REC.2020 with gamma 2.2 for HDR10 as a calibration target.

2) Source (REC.2020 2.2) and Destination your profile file.

Generate two LUT using MapSpace and FitSpace, and check the cube shape in the 3D Cube Viewer and the LUT preview for any issues.

Hi Ted,
Thank you so much for the guidance!
I am currently profiling my TCL 85C855 using a Focused Patch Set (based on a 17^3 pre-profile) to ensure the best possible linearity .
I will follow your advice.

I'll make sure to compare MapSpace and FitSpace results in the 3D Cube Viewer to pick the one with the cleanest grid before exporting the .1tcl and .dat files.
Your help is much appreciated!

For 1D LUT, use Peak Chroma.
