Mini tripod for non-contact i1D3 calibration

Hi,

I am looking for mounting solutions for an i1D3 (1/4"-20 thread) to calibrate without hanging the probe over the bezel. My goal is to maintain a ~1cm gap between the probe and the OLED panel to prevent heat transfer.

Most mini desktop tripods (like the Manfrotto PIXI or SmallRig mini models) lack the horizontal reach to get the probe close to the glass. Because the thread and ball head are positioned vertically, the tripod base usually hits the monitor stand before the probe reaches the screen.

Could you recommend:

1. A stable mini desktop tripod with sufficient horizontal extension for a 27- 32" monitor.

2. A standard floor tripod suitable for a TV.

Thank you.

I use a Zomei mini tripod with pan/tilt head (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PNHJRZR). It's perfect for use on our TV cabinet in front of our 77" Samsung S90C. I can either tilt the head so that the threads are horizontal (most commonly), or use an L-shaped DSLR bracket. I also have a floor-standing tripod, but that sets the meter a bit too far from the screen for my tastes.

Curt Palme sells a telescoping tripod extension for about $20 that works wonderfully for this.

Sorry I can't post a link!

When choosing a tripod, make sure to look for one that has a center column or pin.

SmallRig VT-20, that's all you need. But make sure you have an Arca Swiss solution for the i1D3.

Wow, Ted. "Five is alive"!
I also own a mic boom setup bought several years ago. But I find it less easy to use than the tripods. I'll look at that extension Nillaz described.

Users with a tripod can attach an L bracket to the head to extend the meter or use a magic arm.
