Crash when opening a ColourSpace Profiling window

As we have had a couple of users with this issue, it is worth providing the following information:

If ColourSpace crashes when opening a Profiling window (or the LUT Tools window), the likely issue is the OpenGL Driver being corrupt or too old.
So far, every instance of such a crash has been a problem with the OpenGL Driver.
ColourSpace requires OpenGL 3.2, or later - but more often it is corrupt drivers causing the issue.

Hopefully, this post will help any user with such an issue.

Steve, thanks for your email assistance over this. While it may be working correctly on the latest Nvidia Drivers for you and others, the crash still happens for me on the latest Nvidia Drivers 516.59/.79, both studio and game versions, after DDU wipe and driver store wipes as well as a typical clean install from the exe. I just did a basic clean install again of the past version, 512.96, and no more crashing, working as expected. Also works after a deeper DDU wipe.

I'm only posting this response in case others are pulling their hair out and the ogl/driver reinstall of latest driver isn't working out. Not sure it's specifically an open GL corruption issue since it's happened on multiple versions of the latest driver, re-downloaded to make sure there wasn't corruption in the download, but something there is certainly going on. Or my workstation has issues I have yet to pinpoint.

The OpenGL version on my Nvidia based desktop is: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 516.59
On my Intel laptop, the OpenGL version is: 4.6.0 - Build 27.20.100.9621

So basically, both are version 4.6.0

Yeah, I don't know what's going on then because the exact issue happens with today's driver after clean wipe install and regular install (516.93) and the latest ColourSpace Build 1452 or the last version 1416. I don't know anymore, so I am reaching out to Nvidia and others to figure it out, but most likely just going to do a fresh OS when I have the time. I understand it's working for you and others, but it isn't for me, so that's the only thing I can do at this point, or just stick with 512.96 until I can't anymore. I know it doesn't make sense due to version numbers, but that's what I am dealing with.

Just wanted to add some more info to this. It was still crashing up to the current 516.93 (driver issue goes a lot deeper from my research, mostly to deal with OpenCL changes after 512 version. Others had other issues related to mine), however I just installed the "Vulkan" variant 517.17 and suddenly no more crashing! Whatever it was they hopefuly have fixed it. The older Vulkan version before this didn't fix the issue, so whatever they did to this one has done it.

I've been using Colourspace LTE for about a week now and all of a sudden it closes after running for about 1 minute. The only thing I've done differently was I used PGen instead of Resolve built in generator. But now it crashes either with PGen or Resolve... I thought maybe it was something with PC security settings but I don't see anything wrong there.

Unfortunately, that is not enough information for any real assessment to be made.

As per the title of this thread, does the crash happen when you open a ColourSpace Profiling window?
If so, then the issue is defined above.

If not, then likely you have an issue with your PC/Windows installation.
As to what that is, unfortunately no idea.
Can you provide additional information, and maybe a link to a video of the crash?

Hello Steve, thanks for responding. After more research it appears that Webroot decided to start closing the application after using it for more than a week with no problems. I have reported this to Webroot so maybe they can address the issue. I've scrubbed all the settings within Webroot and have found nothing that would suggest their is an issue with running the software. Hopefully they will respond promptly to sort this out. Thank you again for responding...

Hi there,

do any of you use Win 11 Pro on an Apple silicon? I have an Air M1 and have a virtual machine via vmware fusion. Can anyone confirm that it works?
I would like to avoid subscribing to Parallels because I only use Windows for ColourSpace and probably only for a few minutes a year.
What a pain... with windows.

Have you made sure the fusion version you have has openGL support?

Steve

Edit: Seems there may be an issue with fusion on Apple Silicon

Fusion now works!

Thank you very much Steve for that reddit link!

I spent all day yesterday trying to get it to work. Of course I searched the internet for solutions. Every now and then I read about someone succeeding but maybe not. It would be interesting to know if anyone has managed to work with vmware and apple silicon and how exactly.
I have now borrowed a Windows laptop so that I can work in the next few days.
Too bad there isn't a native Mac app. Before I subscribe to (or buy) Paralles, I prefer to buy an old win laptop. This is cheaper in the long run. But that's actually not a solution, it's just annoying because I don't do anything with Windows anymore. At least definitely not a Windows laptop. Not for 15 years. And I can't carry a Windows workstation everywhere

I will have more time again in February and will continue to look for a solution to work with vmware. And I'll let you know if I find out more.

Both Parallels & Fusion now works on Apple Silicon.
I use an M1 Mac for our own testing.

But is does seem Fusion has a lot of issues in this regard: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/vmware-fusion-13-now-available-with-native-support-for-apple-silicon-macs.2370773

How about UTM?
