Pgenerator at RGBFull gives out 16-235

I run a Pi3B+ with Pgenerator on it. I have attached it to a Leadewr scope, and directly to an FSI monitor, and both indicate the output of the generator is at 235. I am sending a 255 patch from Lightspace 10.0.0.3015, CMS is set to 0-255, and a Davinci as pattern generator on the same network correctly outputs full range. I have just updated Pgenerator and checked Devicecontrol is on the latest version. What am I doing wrong?

As PGen is HDMI output, how are you converting to SDI for the Leader scope and FSI display?
I suspect your issue is there.

Hi Steve
I have connected the hdmi out of the Pi to a dvi input of an FSI monitor and selected full range rgb there. I still see it as limited.

As to normal use I convert it with a bmd micro hdmi-SDI which seems to work in full range. The 6G version surely does.

PGen with Rasberry can be accurate only when you output from RGB-Data.

RGB-Video or YCbCr output is not bit-perfect to that device; for that reason, we are using only RGB-Data as output.

When you output RGB-Data, you manage the levels using LightSpace and patch scale, if you need 16-255 or 16-235 or 0-255.

But there no flag to the signal to know what is the levels the user is using as the devices you send the signal will understand that you send RGB-Data.

When you are using signal conversions, they will convert Data Levels to Video Levels.

However, since they see Data levels, they will scale to Video and then to YCbCr.

YCbCr is video levels, so your signal will be 16-235.

I would have to check, but I think FSI displays always see HDMI input as TV Legal.
And the SDI converter used with the Leader scope will convert to TV Legal if you are using single link SDI (422), unless it has a 444 option enabled (3G vs. 6G).

The PGen. will be full range though.

Okay I'm investigating.

I can confirm the bmd micro converter passes full range. I have plugged the my mac's desktop (1080p60) in the converter in hdmi, and the SDI out to the FSI, and on the waveform I can see super black and super white. It sounds logical that MacOS desktop output would be full range. Same on a leader waveform, so I'm sure the SDI signal is full range from the bmd.

However the same plugged in directly into the FSI's DVI in is limited. This means Steve is correct saying that the FSI is converting on its dvi in.

So I got a tv logic 058 which has both hdmi and SDI. Now here it's where this goes strange. The tvlogic can display full range from the Mac directly. It can display full range from the Mac with the bmd converter in between. It however displays limited range coming from a PC, OR from the Pi.

I confirmed the same operation with a SmallHD AC7.

My only explanation would be that the Mac outputs full range (just as my 4K SDI card) and the PC and the Pi outputs limited range.. but you says that's not it... I keep looking.
