Issue with some Eizo displays

After a lot of testing, and direct dialogue with Eizo, we have discovered that some Eizo display models have a specific issue that affects calibration.
(This is a specific issue with some Eizo displays, and is not a LightSpace issue at all.)

We have discovered that some Eizo displays with the new 'Extended LUT' capability will NOT work correctly with YUV/YCrCb signal paths, and MUST be set to RGB.
The CG274X is definitely one model with this limitation, and we are waiting on Eizo for information on other models similarly limited.
If when attempting calibration the image shows 'strange' colour shift with a LUT active in YUV mode, the display is one with this issue.

Presently there is no workaround for this issue.

Hey Steve,

New to the forums as of today, and partially due to buying a CG247X that I will receive in the next two days. This is essentially the first negative thing I've discovered about it. It was hard to tell from the thread that led me here, is it for sure a problem on that model, or only on some batches?. If it does effect the whole set, is setting to RGB fine? I deliver to a fair mix of web, TV, and DCP, but am finding myself doing more serious work on projects we don't take to a post house lately (and enjoying it). What am I losing if I do RGB?

I'm relatively new to parts of the color rabbit hole. I understand the terms and what is at stake, a lot of the base level gamma and color space ideas, and so on, but I was going to write asking which version of Lightspace I should rent to calibrate that monitor (I'm using a Mini Monitor 4K). The process intimidates me a little - I've been using displayCal, but I know Lightspace is superior (I have windows installed on a partition to do so).

Thanks for all you do!

Pierce

The CG247X only has the 'Expended' LUT (not the Standard LUT).

The patch generator sits after the 'Extended' LUT, so means it cannot be used for calibration verification.

The YUV to RGB conversion is also positioned after the Extended LUT, so the displays will only work for RGB workflows with 3D LUT calibration.

Hi all,
I am having trouble with a cg247 (no X).

My goal is video range 709 2.2gamma through a Blackmagic external minimonitor (YUV 422, thunderbolt ->hdmi) and Resolve
Manual calibration went well, but testing a peakchroma/peakluma or mapspace LUT creates non-linearity during quick profiling for yellow and green. Especially the higher values for green and yellow sit on the boundry line of 709 gamut. Also the RGB separation is terrible with the LUT.

Could that be this issue?
I would appreciate any hint.

thanks

Sorry to say it is impossible to make any judgment from that info.

Please send the original profile, the LUT, and the post calibration verification profile.
