ColourSpace Manufacturer HTL or ColourSpace HTL?

I have an i1Display Pro, an LG C1, and an ASUS ProArt PA278QV monitor. I used to calibrate the LG C1 with Calman Home for LG on my Windows 11 PC and the Patterns App on my Mac, and I calibrated the ProArt monitor using the Calibrate software on my Mac. The thing is, I'm mainly a Mac user and barely touch the PC anymore except for calibration or installing firmware on my Godox strobes. My PC is also too old to update Windows and is stuck at 24H2, so I really don't want to use it anymore.

Right now, I have a Mac Studio and an M4 MacBook Air, plus the Patterns app from Calman. I'd much rather just run Windows 11 Pro through Parallels. I know ColourSpace works fine with Parallels, but I'm not sure which version I should get—ColourSpace HTL or ColourSpace Manufacturer HTL. I'm also unsure whether I should install it on my MacBook Air to calibrate the LG C1 or put it on the Mac Studio instead. My wife has the same ASUS ProArt PA278QV monitor on her Mac Studio, and I want to calibrate hers too.

Here's basically my current workflow: I calibrate the LG C1 with Calman Home, then I use Calibrate software again to apply a software LUT to the monitor. Do I still need the Calibrate software? Or can ColourSpace HTL (or Manufacturer HTL) handle calibration for the ASUS ProArt PA278QV as well?

I'm currently using Final Cut Pro, but I'm planning to switch to DaVinci Resolve, so I'm not sure if that affects which calibration software I should buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

The PA278QV has no 3D LUT calibration capability.
And for the LG you can either use ColourSpace LG HTL or the full ColourSpace HTL license level with the 1i Display probe.
It is your choice really.
However, with Resolve you can load calibration LUTs into the 'display LUT' function.
For that you would need ColourSpace LTE, not a 'home' license.

Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I'll be honest—I don't know a whole lot about color calibration beyond trying to keep the Delta E values low. With the Asus PA278QV, I'm assuming I still need to use Calibrite Profiler to calibrate it. I was hoping I could use just one piece of software for both the LG C1 and the Asus PA278QV, but maybe that's not possible? Since the Asus PA278QV doesn't support hardware LUTs, would I still be able to do a manual calibration using ColourSpace Manufacturer HTL? Or would I need to buy ColourSpace DPS as well to calibrate it properly? I used to use Display Cal and really liked that software but unfortunately it is not available anymore so I am forced to use Calibrite. 🙁

I watched one of your videos, and I was really impressed with how much control you had when fine-tuning the calibration—definitely more than what Calman Home LG allows. I'm not totally sure how accurate Calibrite Profiler is, but with my current workflow I usually get an average Delta E of around 0.5 and a max of about 1.0, so the results seem decent.

Thanks again for your time—I really appreciate it. 🙏🏼

What dE formula is being used?
Impossible to tell from that what they use... so actually impossible to know the truth.
And 24 patches really tells you nothing.

But yes, you can use any ColourSpace license level for manual calibration.
You can also use SpaceMan to convert ColourSpace LUTs into ICC profiles, is you do understand ICCs.
Calibrite is ICC based.
