Questions regarding 3D LUT profiling

Hi, this is how my EOTF looks like after I profiled my LG TV to generate a 3D LUT for SDR. I does not look like the EOTF example in the guide, as values are measured beyond "1.0". Any idea if I'm doing something wrong?

Thank you!

Your 'target' info in Settings is set incorrectly.

In setting I unchecked "auto" and manually added 100 nits as the target (this is what I measured at 100% white). I followed the guide to my best knowledge.

Do you mean this target? Thank you

It would look as if you have 'Extended' selected?
But having 'Auto' selected for Min/Max Luma is the standard setting, unless you really know what you are doing.

Yes I selected extended as I followed the LG calibration guide.

If I understand correctly, the guide says that I should uncheck auto and put in manually the target luminance (100 nits). In the example in the guide, the EOTF point is not out of the graph at peak brightness after profiling the TV (I profiled with extended scale and also with the pre-roll patch list, just like the guide says). However, in my case it is out of the graph.

If you are deliberately using an Extended workflow, then your graph is correct.
Maybe the one of the guide you are using is not zoomed out, so isn't showing the 100 to 109% area?

And setting 100 nits peak target is up to you, but means any variation from 100 nits in the actual measurements will show as errors, as should be the case.

If you're referring to the SDR 3D LUT Guide distributed by Ted, that guide recommends profiling in extended range, with verification being performed in legal video range.
The white point calibration is performed with a set target (e.g. 100 nits) in order to calibrate 109% at the appropriate luminance. After that, you can set Min/Max Profile Luma to "Auto".

Yes exactly. I'm using Ted's guide. So it was correct, that I set 100 nits manually and unchecked auto, right?

Here is a screenshot of the guide, I hope I didn't understand this wrong.

But when I look at the profiling section of the guide, there is screenshot in which auto is checked and instead of the target 100 nits @ 100% white, the target is 123 nits (109% white). Ok now I'm confused and don't know what to set here... (see attached screenshot).

I think you are misunderstanding the instruction and how ColorSpace works...

The LI User Guide on Patch Scale says:
'When calibrating to 109% Extended Range, patch 235 (8-bit) should target 100 nits (for a Rec709 grading display), with patch 255 (8-bit) being 9% over-range. The luma value for patch 255 (8-bit) will vary depending on the target colour space EOTF, as well as the display's black level.
With ColourSpace, when working with 109% Extended range, the 100% patch (235 - 8-bit) is the target Peak White value.'

The LG guide you are using says in your screen-grab:
'You can manually enter your target 100% value into the Target Luma (e.g. 100 nits) which will automatically calculate you 109% target value based on the target colour space and gamma value.'

I have highlighted 'can', as it is totally optional.
And so the '123' nits value is not 109% - but just three numbers...
