You can 'calibrate' any display, depending on the display's capabilities.
Some displays, such as from FSI, Konvision, Dolby, Eizo, etc., can be directly calibrated with 3D LUTs from LightSpace so are very simple to make very accurate.
Some displays you can 'calibrate' to a degree using their Manual Controls, using LightSpace to measure the results as you make the adjustments.
(This is not a good way to calibrate for critical colour workflows as the results are always very 'limited' - and this is 'Manual Calibration via the free DPS license for LightSpace CMS'.)
The next option is to use an external 3D LUT, either via a LUT Box, such as BoxIO or even the eeColor, or via a graphics program with output/display LUT capabilities, such as Resolve, Mistika, etc.
With the Dell you only have the last option for true accurate calibration, as you can only perform 'manual' calibration on that display with LightSpace DPS.
(Please also see the 'User Guide' on Manual Calibration for more information on Manual Calibration.)
Note: The Dell calibration performed with the i1 Profiler software is not at all suitable for professional film & tv colour work, as it is a combination ICC and VCGT calibration, and many (most) professional colour systems for film & tv are not ICC compliant, and nor should they be.Steve
