Xrite doesn't provide Hubble recalibration anymore. Looking for alternative solutions

Hi,

We have an 8 year old Hubble probe, which was never recalibrated, so I sent it back to X-rite for recertification. Got in contact with the support, they told me to send it. Unfortunately 4 weeks later they warn me that :

"The Hubble unit on this RMA is no longer serviceable due to our test computer no longer available. "

SO SAD...

I'm looking for alternatives. Does someone know a reputable company able to recalibrate the Hubble ? Or should I consider buying another colorimeter ? We're currently using Panasonic Plasmas and will probably switch to FSI Oled monitors and LG Oled TVs.

Thanks.

To be brutally honest, with the Hubble being so old, and by comparison to modern probe capabilities not very good, I would not wast the money...
I would put the cost of re-calibration - if it is even possible - towards a replacement.

The issue with tristimulus probes is the internal filters. If they have aged (which is very likely with an 8 year old Hubble) they would need replacing for any re-calibration to make sense.

I suggest you cut your losses, and get something new, and a lot better.
The Hubble was never that good with low-light measurements, and modern equivalent probes are a lot better.
I suggest the CR-100 and K10-A as the best alternatives.

Thanks a lot for the info. I was also considering the i1 Display Pro, which is much cheaper than the CR-100 and K10-A. Of course you get what you pay for, but knowing that I intend to calibrate OLED screens (both consumer LG sets and an FSI monitor) would it be acceptable, in your brutally honest opinion ?

PS : We work mainly on television commercials and have a grading suite.

The i1D3 is not in the same league as the CR-100/K10-A...
As you say, you get what you pay for.
For a professional operation, rather than a home cinema enthusiast, I would expect you to be looking for professional level accuracy - especially with such colour critical applications as grading.
