Hi everyone,
I currently have a Sony BVM-HX3110 in the studio and I would like to calibrate it using ColourSpace and For measurements I have a Konica Minolta CS-200.
I would be very interested to hear if anyone here has already calibrated this monitor and what workflow you used.
In particular:
How did you approach SDR calibration (Rec.709 / ~100 nits) on the HX3110?
How did you handle HDR calibration, for example P3-D65 in PQ?
Did you rely mainly on the internal Sony calibration controls, or did you generate an external LUT via ColourSpace?
Are there any specific pitfalls or recommendations when profiling this display?
Any practical experience with this monitor would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Mirela

One of the reasons we never recommend Sony monitors is they have extremely poor calibration capabilities.
And that becomes more obvious as the monitor ages.
Just about all our users with Sony monitors have defaulted to using external LUT boxes for Sony calibration due to that.

The Sony X310 or 3110 are incredibly linear monitors - (and X300) - with just RGB gains you can make sure they are on the recommended Sony alternative white points and off you go. with Colourspace or other softwares you can see how OOB after that white point adjustment they match all patches to a level no other monitor can. (disclaimer, didn't try latest Flanders)

The issue is display ageing, as stated.
And such monitors have relatively quick gamut ageing.
To correct that requires a 3D LUT.
And Sony do not provide for that, so you will need an external LUT calibration.
