P3 conversion LUT vs Resolve Color Management

Hi folks,

I've started using Davinci Resolve's Color Management, which looks promising. To test it out, I set my timeline colorspace to Rec709 and my output colorspace to P3, and rendered out a test clip. It resulted in a low contrast and low saturation clip, that felt quite "log-y". So far so good. I then brought it back into the Resolve, and applied a P3-to_rec709 LUT that I made in Lightspace CMS, expecting this to return the clip to its original look. Whilst it got some of the way there by adding back in some contrast, it still looked lower contrast than the original clip. Does anyone have an insight as to why that is the case? Is RCM to be trusted?

P3 is not a low contrast colour space - it is NOT Log.
The only variation should be a different Gamma, and a different Colour Space.

It sounds like the Resolve workflow is not operating correctly.
