Calibrite sent me an email advertising there device Display Plus HL with a strong 50% discount, valid until 12/08/2024, offering the device at an attractive price of ~140€.

Is it worth taking the offer? Are there usable advantages over the XRite i1D3?

Not really. The only advantage the HL has is a raised upper luminance limit. An adverse consequence of this - and one you should be concerned with if you have an OLED, plasma, or CRT - is poorer accuracy near black than the non-HL meters. That has been discussed before in this forum.

i1Display Pro Plus or i1Display Pro OEM (see FSI's store) are better options for SDR or HDR up to 2000 nits.

Thanks Ted,

Regarding the i1Pro2, a different problem arose.

I performed a cube profile several times with the following results:

5^ finished with no problem
15^ stopped at 3183/3443 patches with the error: i1Pro2 probe not calibrated.
17^ stopped at 4451 / 5012 patches with the error: i1Pro2 probe not calibrated.

But
I had calibrated the probe prior to calibration. The strange thing is that if you click "ok", it advances one patch and the error re-appears. So I clicked through the last 200 patches and finished the 15^profile.
I attach the 15^profile to see if you can you help me narrow down where the issue comes from. I'm running on a Windows 11 Think Pad 5th Gen from Lenovo and the issues appeared when plugged directly to the usb socket as well as when plugged through a powered usb hub.

The i1Pro spectros have an in-built timer, and need re-calibrating when the timer expires.

So that is expected operation, and is again why using an i1Pro for actual calibration is not a good idea.
(The timer is required as the probes drift during use...)
