I am sure this must be a firmware issue of this display. I'm still writing in this forum since you guys do have contacts at LG and there are probably other users having this display here.
My issue is that the Black Offset setting in HDR modes is not saved. It is applied when changed but it does get "forgotten" when the display is being turned off, or if the input switches back and forth to HDR.
Does anyone else see this? I do not know how to contact LG for that, so I thought perhaps somebody here knows a way to forward them this issue?
The issue can be reproduced by the following procedure:
- Reset the display to factory setting.
- Start an SDR input (e.g. putting windows in SDR mode) and open an image to have some visual feedback. Go in the displays menu to your favorite SDR preset and change there the Back Offset setting to something significantly different than the default of 20, like e.g. 100. You will see the change being applied immediately.
- Now move to HDR (e.g. change to HDR mode in windows). In the displays menu select the preset (HDR) BT.2100 PQ and change the Black Offset setting also to 100. You will see the change being applied immediately.
- Go back to SDR Mode, and you will recognize on your image that the Black Offset setting is still applied.
- Go back to HDR mode and you will see that that Black Offset setting is not applied anymore. Look into the menu, and you will see that the setting is still sits at 100. Change it from 100 to 99 and only in that instance the setting is being reapplied.
