I'm freelanceing at a facility that has Penta LCD mon, and callibrates with Displaycal software and the HP Dreamcolor probe, it reports to the software as an i1D2.. unfortunatly the monitor is a bit off, shadeing to green in the highlights, and i proposed they try a short rental of Lightspace to confirm/adjust the resualts of the Displaycal generated LUT they are currently useing

i expect a better resualt with the probe they have + Lightspace, if the probe is supported, and if the probe it's self is up to the task...

thoughts?

You can test the probe with the free DPS version...

one more thought, what does DPS use for a patch gen? can it use Resolve?

Nope.

See: http://www.lightillusion.com/lightspace_options.html

DPS is just for evaluation, not real profiling, etc.

thanX again... so;
step 1 is to download DPS, attach probe and see if it handshakes...
step 2 is to buy a 3day licence if all is good on the handshake front, and get that Penta into line....

i wonder how old the probe is? it may be past it's sell by date... guess he needs another probe to callibrate/offset his HP branded i1D2 first.... actualy that should be done in the software he currently uses in any case.. have you seen significantly / visably incorrect resualts due to an ageing probe?

the mon in question is a fair bit away from accurate, yet they callibrated it a few weeks ago.... something is not optimal in the chain, hence the thought of verfiying in a diffrent software

my only real intrest in this is to send out a master that looks like what the dp signed off on...

not that simple a task...

The i1D2 was actually never that good...
And old ones will have aged (the filters deteriorate).

An i1Display Pro would be a sensible investment.
