sorry I've been a litle bit confused, because in the "patch colour" tab of lightspace the level range is 0-255 (which suggest working full range)
but for profiling a video monitor (video range signal) it is correct to set the data level in resolve (Project Settings, Video Monitoring) to Video?
This gives the monitor video level 235 with 255 selected in the patch colour tab of lightspace, but is correct?

As is explained in the various User Guides (but can be a bit of a search to find) the patch generator is responsible for setting the correct patch scaling.
This is normally part of the workflow configuration for your specific setyp.

If profiling a normal TV, for example using the HDMI output of the LightSpace PC, the TV's EDID data will set the PC's HDMI output to the correct range - unless you override it.

This is all separate to LightSpace, and is standard for any calibration.

If the patch generator you are using doesn't correctly scale the patches you can use the 'Patch Scale' option within LightSpace to set this.
But the Slider, etc, will still show 0-255, as the scaling is at the point of output.

Thanks Steve I've read the user guides but probably missunderstood or overlooked something (could not find, how to set the levels in your Resolve user guide)
The monitor is connected via SDI, so no EDID data etc...

Does it mean that one should use data level in Project Settings of DaVinci resolve and set in lightspace the "Patch Scale" to 16 for "min" and 235 for "max"?

Sorry - I missed this follow-up.

The patch scale setting in LightSpace will depend on the way the patch generator works.
Most patch generators also re-scale their output based on their overall settings, so LightSpace would be left at its default full range setting, or video scale would be applied twice.

The issue is knowing how the patch generator works.
