Hi,

I'm trying to calibrate the latest ASUS QD-OLED, and I'm unsure if this model requires a "Initial Power Law EOTF" or "Initial PQ EOTF" approach. When I uploaded the Unity LUT the Monitor defaults to 2.2 so I reckon it's the Initial Power Law EOTF?

You ONLY need to use the 'Initial PQ EOTF' approach IF the EOTF shows as being PQ pre-calibration.
But, as you can pre-calibrate the ASUS with its 1D post only LUT, you can set an initial PQ EOTF if you want, or not.
It's up to you, depending on the calibration workflow you want to use.

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply.

I'm sorry if I'm being a bit thick but can you please confirm this would work:

ASUS HDR Calibration Workflow:
1. Connect to ASUS and load 1D+3D UNITY LUT into desired slot
2. Profile Monitor in Initial Power Law EOTF and generate Calibration LUT to desired colour space with display native EOTF
3 Disconnect from monitor and verify Calibration in PQ

Is this correct? Or should I profile with the Initial Power Law EOTF and convert to PQ with the Calibration LUT?

Best

Have you tried the workflow?
Rather than me saying yes/no, it is best you test, for example using a Quick Profile (for speed while testing), just to validate your thoughts/workflow.
That way to will learn more than just following suggested steps...
