Hello everyone, in my case.
I need to go to the services tab in the Task Manager and have the logi_lamparray_service turn off.
After that, my i1 display plus can be connected normally.

It seems Windows Dynamic Lighting is behind a lot of the issues with HID controlled devices, such as the i1D3 probe.
Third party software and services that are linked to Windows Dynamic Lighting, such as Logitech LampArray Services do seem to suggest such implementations are at best faulty, and possibly just exceptionally poor software.

It also appears that Windows updates are now installing some of this disruptive software/services by default...

I'm having problems connecting an OEM i1D3 probe to my Colourspace HTP install.
I purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad to be a dedicated Colourspace calibration machine, nothing installed other than a minimal configuration Windows 11 Pro install and ColourSpace HTP. When trying to connect to the probe I see 'ERROR' message.
The device shows as a HID device in 'Device Manager', and an i1Display3 in 'Devices and Printers'.
Am I required to install some a device driver or are they 'built-in' to ColourSpace? Given all the talk about incompatible drivers here I'm wary of randomly installing software trying to fix this.

Please see the information in this thread above.
There is nothing you need to install, but likely things you need to uninstall or stop running.
(Although you haven't specified exactly which i1D3 you have?)

Hello!

I'm experiencing issues connecting my ColorChecker Display Plus. I've tried two different PCs, and both show the same Unknown USB Device issue.
My Mac doesn't recognize the device at all.

I've uninstalled several apps and drivers, but nothing seems to work. However, after installing Calibrite Profiler, the device's light randomly starts flashing. When I restart the PC, the light stops flashing. Sometimes, when I move the cable, Windows makes the sound for connecting a USB device, but then I get a message in the bottom right corner saying that Windows didn't recognize the USB device.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Do you think it's a software or hardware problem? Is it normal for the device to fail like this, without any noticeable signs of wear or damage (like a drop)? Also, is there any on/off switch when we rotate the cap to take measurements?

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

That means the device is dead.
Likely an internally broken connection cable.

Thanks Steve!

Do you think this is repairable with basic skills, or is it beyond repair? If fixable, is DIY safe, or should I replace it to avoid affecting measurement accuracy?

Also, since i1D3 probes are no longer available (even on FSI's shop), does anyone know where to find them in the EU? If they're unavailable, would the Display SL be the next best option? Are there any other alternatives with comparable performance and in a similar price range to the i1D3?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can try...
The cable elements are very thin.

And all i1D3 probes from wherever are basically the same.
You just have to choose the version that best suits your requirements.

I'm aware that all i1D3 probes are essentially the same, but I was referring to the black level accuracy of the newer Calibrate HL versions, which, as you discussed in a recent thread, seem to lack precision in that area.

From what I understand, my best option (for accuracy on OLED) would be to find an older i1D3 or go with the SL version, as it appears to have the lowest peak measurement brightness compared to the HL models, which are rated at 3000 and 10,000 nits.

Would this assumption be correct?

Indeed - as you say, that has all been discussed many times.
I had assumed you were refering to those discussions, so didn't go over them again.

The wires are only ~3 very thin strands, so it takes considerable finesse to solder. It's possible to instead replace the entire cable, but it requires a specialty connector. This is old but will give you a view:

It has now been found that as well as Gigabyte software, MSI software also causes issues with USB connections.
Such manufacturers really should be able to write better code!
