Some questions for manual Dolby Vision calibration

Hi, I'm using ZRO and recently set up the PGenerator (after a I bought Ted's PGenerator ISO, etc.), to learn how to calibrate the Dolby Vision picture modes of my LG G2 TV. After reading the guide for the "DV calibrate" and "DV verify" I came across some points that I don't understand.

When I perform a DV verify measurement I get the following result, you can see in the attached EOTF screenshot. I set the SR2084 profile to 930 max nits as this what ZRO measured for my TV. I think the EOTF tracking is ok and can be improved, also the RGB balance could be better.

However, when I switch to the DV calibrate mode, I don't understand why in this mode it looks like that the brightness is way too high (see EOTF2 screenshot). When I lower the RGB luminance in the DV calibrate mode to track the EOTF better, the DV verify mode measurement says that the ST2084 ETOF tracking is too dark. It would be great if you could help me to understand this. Thank you

You DV Calibrate patches and fix the RGB balance and the luma (Y) errors for 2.2 gamma as your target gamma.

When you look at the RGB balance chart, it will not show the lume error; look at the Target Y and the Measured Y values and change the TV controls to reduce the luma error.

The RGB Widget will include the luma error when the 'Chroma only' is not ticked.

Thank you for the quick response! I think that is what I tried to do but it doesn't work out.
After I took care of the RGB balance and luma error (I did another quick & dirty run), the resulting ST2084 EOTF in Dolby verify mode is too dark. In other words, after the luma error correction the ETOF tracking in Dolby verify gets worse and not better. The attached screenshot show the issue. For patches I use the "LG 2021-2022 HDR legal 8 bit" patchlist.

Am I doing something wrong? I have added more screenshots that show my settings, in case I messed them up...

After performing your best possible RGB balance and gamma calibration using DV Calibrate patches and uploading a correct DV configuration file, there is nothing else you can do.

Just follow the instructions regarding the verification procedure.

Are there any specific DV patches I have to use? Currently I use the LG HDR patchlist. And what is a DV calibration file? I did not read about this file in the guide I found.

Thank you!

The LG White Balance GUI download has the appropriate Dolby Vision patches for 2022 models of LG displays.

I see that you have Ted's version of PGenerator. A link to Ted's Customer Downloads should have been provided in the email with Ted's PGen download link. Ted's Customer Downloads include a Dolby Vision calibration guide for LG displays along with patch sequences for evaluating Dolby Vision color.

It will also provide instructions regarding the Dolby Vision config file.

The guide will also state that you should be using a customized DCI P3 D65 color space with 2.2 gamma when calibrating Dolby Vision and ST2084 DCI P3 D65 for verification. DCI P3's primaries have different x/y coordinates than those for Rec 2020.

Thank you! Yes I have Ted's version of PGenerator and I missed the link to the customer downloads in the mail. I will read it right now and try to not mess up again
