SmallHD - Pre-Calibration?

I'm calibrating an old SmallHD 702, which is obviously on older firmware since the monitor is no longer supported.
I've attempted to "pre-calibrate" the display with the monitor's "Manual Adjustment" menu before entering into the "Calibration" menu. The hope is to get my white point dialed in before building the calibration LUT.

But when entering into the "Calibration" menu, the adjustments I've made on the "Manual Adjustments" page seem to visually reset back to some horrible magenta color. It makes me think SmallHD doesn't allow these pre-calibration adjustments, but only as post-calibration adjustments.

Am I correct in assuming this? And if so, is there a way around this? I would hate for the LUT to do too much of the heavy lifting based on this visible magenta shift that's clearly present.

Maybe this isn't the case with the newer SmallHD OS. But I'm just curious for future SmallHD calibrations.

I think you will need to ask SmallHD that question.

But, having the LUT correct everything is no issue, especially if you use a Focused Patch Set approach.

For the SmallHD monitor, use a TPG with a YCbCr 4:2:2 (Legal patch scale) signal.

Avoid using window or full-screen patches, as the backlight will not remain stable.

Instead, use 50% or 75% windows (area) with a white background.

Export a 3D LUT from ColourSpace Unity and upload it to the monitor.

Utilize the RGB-Gain controls and the backlight to adjust your 100% white balance to the desired nit levels. Once your white and luma output are satisfactory, restore the RGB balance controls to their default settings and profile the monitor using a 17-point cube with Drift set to 50.

This process helps you determine which backlight setting will achieve the calibrated nits you want after profiling.

Apologies for the late reply, but I appreciate the feedback here! That helps tremendously. Cheers.
