The latest release of LightSpace CMS includes some new Probe Options for the i1D3.
We have been working with X-Rite on these new settings to improve the calibration results of the i1D3 probe.

The new options are within the standard Probe Options window and include two main changes.

First, in the 'Display Type' area of the menu is a new 'Plasma' setting (more on this below)
Second, in the 'Calibration Settings' are new settings for Plasma, Oled, and RG-Phosphor display colourimetry.

The Calibration Settings provide in-built offsets for the different displays, improving measured accuracy.
All fairly obvious, and a big help.

It is the new 'Display Type' 'Plasma' setting that is more interesting...
Although we have labeled it as 'Plasma' this setting can help with LCD displays too.
The 'Plasma' mode is really designed as a 'Burst' measurement mode for displays with pulsing characteristics.
And some LCD displays suffer this.

It is best to initially use the 'correct' Display Type, but if problems are found - with random inaccurate readings, or exceptionally slow readings in Closed Loop Mode, a change to 'Plasma' as the Display Type may fix the issue.

how do we read the new RGB graph ? what is supposed to show ?

RGB Separation shows how 'good' a display is at 'tracking' colours.
Technically, it is the difference between 100% R, G and B at different luma levels, vs the same RGB component of the same level grey scale patches.
In a good monitor they should match.

The RGB Balance is the grey scale accuracy. (colour temperature)

when i see crazy spikes value on the RGB graph ( on the extreme left) , those are wrong measurement due to display/quality of probe ?

and the SMooth ad Axis blend will discard those readings ?

Yes, the filters will work, but such readings show the probe has failed to read.
This is a probe problem.

This is where the new i1D3 setting should be used (plasma), or use a quicker/shorter Integration Time.
