Jeti specbos 2501 vs. spectraval 1511

2501 caught my eye when looking for a spectro for primarily probe matching but maybe also for creating CVS and CCSS files. It's somewhat cheaper than 1511 but are any downsides going with 2501 for the purposes mentioned above when compared to 1511 and other high end spectros? Measured devices are most likely gonna be wide gamut LEDs and projectors, maybe OLEDs and Laser Projectors too. For the later ones, I most likely would want the hiRes version but Jeti also sells an hiRes addon for 2501? Anyone got any experience with that?

On 2501 product page under Alternatives there is also specbos 2501 (380-780 nm) version, is this preferable to the 350-780nm model for creating CVS files since the values need to be 380nm to 780nm? Or are these two even different models, am I understanding this correctly?

The 1511 is the same as the cheaper 1501, but that is no longer available.
The 1511 is also EOL, and only available while stocks last.

The 2501 is the newer replacement model.
And the visual spectrum as used in display calibration is 380nm to 780nm.
Having additional IR or UV range is not suitable.
(The 350 is a typo, as were the ranges quoted in the Alternative models, and all have now been corrected.)

So for probe matching the 2501HiRes would be the preferred model.

To clarify, the HiRes version you're selling is the 2501 with the hires addon? There doesn't exist a third, "native" hires 2501, right?

It's not an addon.
It is an option for the probe.
4nm is standard, 2nm is an optional extra.

That's what I thought, but Jeti's website and another store are referring to it as an addon, hence the confusion.

Just language/translation differences.

Do you know if a 4nm unit can be changed into a 2nm one retroactively? If I buy a 4nm version but find out I need 2nm later, can I sent it back to Jeti for the installation? Now that wouldn't make much sense moneyspendingwise when I can just buy the 2nm in the firstplace but theoretically?

Actually, no, such an upgrade is not possible.
The optical components would have to be removed, and the measuring head modified.
In the end, this would amount to the same cost as a new HiRes device.
The decision whether or not to choose the HiRes version must be made before purchase.
