Huge Drift - probe broken?

Hi all,

I recently bought the ColourSpace LTE software and proceeded with my first calibration using a "not very powerful" Windows 11 laptop and a X-Rite i1Pro2.

To my surprise, in my first Cube calibration the Drift goes literally off the charts, showing huge spikes. I know my monitor very well, it is a 3 years old Flanders Scientific FSI241 (I know it is stable). So the main suspects are either the probe or the laptop.

- Does a huge drift automatically mean a faulty probe? Or could it mean other underlying issues like electricity on the usb port...?

Please post your profile so we can asses it.
But, the i1Pro 2 is not good for actual profiling, as it is very slow.
(As well as not being sensitive enough in the near blacks.)

Hi Steve,
I will make another measurement over the weekend and post the profile, for now I have this screenshot:

That looks to be either a probe or monitor heat related step change.
But will need the profile to verify.

You will need a colorimeter and create a meter correction table using your i1PRO2.

Ensure that you use 0.5 sec extra delay (or 0.75 sec if you use Resolve as iTPG)

Your i1PRO2 can't be used as a stand-alone meter; just look at your Contrast ratio; since it can't measure your absolute black level, the whole gamma calculation will be wrong.

I have solved the "issue", Steve. I tested many things but at the end the explanation was very simple...Since the 17^measurement takes a long time, I left the room in between. After an hour or so, my screensaver was activated and Resolve stopped generating patches. This created the drift issue, my bad. I have now set all power saving options to none and performed a quick 7^measurement with very minimal drift.

About a different colorimeter for contrast, it's a good suggestion Ted, and we will surely implement it. Do you have a preference for low-mid budget?
