Why Calibrate?
There are two main reasons for display calibration, depending on the position of any given display within the image chain - initial image grading during program mastering, or later image viewing as a final consumer. Calibration is a Necessity, not an Option!.
Patch Generation
There are many different methods for patch generation, many involving costly hardware, but in reality patch generation can be done very cheaply, and even for free, especially when using the unique DIP (Display Independent Profiling) capability of LightSpace CMS. User Guides
To assist with display calibration two new User Guides have been made available, which provide Step-By-Step instructions for both Manual Display Calibration, as well as 3D LUT Display Calibration. Using these guides any user can quickly understand how LightSpace works, and how to gte the best possible final calibration.
Free Look LUTs
Using the standard capabilities of LightSpace CMS Light Illusion has generated a selection of Free Look LUTs that can be downloaded directly from the website. The LUTs include Film Emulation for Log and TV Legal images, as well as an ACES based LUT for use with ARRI Log footage. More usefully, the website page includes a step-by-step guide that explains how LightSpace CMS was used to generate the LUTs!
