From another user that upgraded from Calman to ColourSpace:

I have officially joined the "dark side" and bought ColourSpace as my Calman Home license was expiring. Please let this be the last calibration license I have to buy for a while!!! Can't wait to dive in. I would never have switched if it weren't for Ted and Leon's guides.

And from another 'upgrader' agreeing with the above user's views:

As someone how did the "switch"* recently: NO REGRETS!
It's just awesome and 1000-times more intuitive to use, once you've learned the basics (And Ted's & Leon's excessive manuals, how-tos, guides and super-fast mail responses!).

* Just bought Calman in April and it really is annoying in so many ways!

From a general AV forum:

When that "new CM LUT" engine is coming?

One year is gone and my annual [Calman] license is going to end at this month.
Still same artefacts and color banding, not possible to use another than Lightning LUT.
I should take moneys back when Portrait Displays offered it, they had nothing else solution at technical support.

But no problem, I have license for LightSpace and ColorSpace programs
.

Really says a lot...

From a rather happy ColourSpace user, who also has Calman:

I saw your LinkedIn post earlier this week regarding LG OLED calibration with ColourSpace and all the work Ted has done working with other enthusiasts on this process. In addition, I know Ted has spent countless hours writing guides as well as centralizing and organizing the hundreds of pages of information scattered on the AVS forum regarding the LG OLEDs.

I wanted to share my recent ColourSpace results with you from my own LG 65" CX SDR calibration.

First, I just want to say that Ted is a tremendous asset to the LightSpace/ColourSpace community and calibration enthusiasts in general. I first started communicating with Ted back in 2015 when I purchased his calibration disk and media files. We have exchanged hundreds of emails over the years and he has given me seemingly endless advice and always asking for nothing in return- though I regularly contribute to his PayPal to show my appreciation- another one coming soon Ted!

I have been calibrating as an enthusiast for many years, but a lot of my focus in the past was with front projectors. Eventually, I would like to start doing some professional level calibration on the side and since the LG OLEDs are so popular, I knew that I needed to gain experience with them. So, for the past year, I have been closely following the progress of the LG OLED calibration process with ColourSpace and Device Control. I do also have Calman Ultimate for Business that I begrudgingly keep updated, but there was no way I was going to use that with the LG. I decided to wait for the 2020 LG models as well as the official release of ColourSpace.

I have spent the last few weeks getting familiar with Device Control and calibrating SDR on the CX and I have to say this was the smoothest, easiest, most accurate calibration I have ever done. The results, in my opinion, are reference quality. I have attached screenshots of my final results and the only possible area of improvement would be my low end greyscale & gamma, but I highly doubt those incremental improvements would even be visible in actual content. I have 3 "orange" points on a 1000 point verification profile and the largest error of the three is 1.2 dE 00.

Thank you again for this brilliant software and THANK YOU to Ted for his continued guidance and for working with the enthusiast community to develop this process and all the best practices for these panels.

Taken from a thread within these forums from a user who only recently traded-up to ColourSpace from Calman, for JVC projector calibration:

I just watched a movie this evening and it was fantastic. No issues with posterization or banding. I was very pleased. I am sure I could spend several more hours trying to figure out how to reduce the gamut in the projector's rec2020 mode, but I would loose some gamut, brightness, and contrast in the reduction to avoid the edge compression. Not to mention the hours I would spend doing it...

I know I still have a lot to learn, but I am really thrilled to have gotten an amazing result out of using ColourSpace.

I have done previous LUTs using other solutions, but I have had issues with them, which was what lead me to ColourSpace. I have learned more using ColourSpace because its flexibility also requires you to have little more understanding of the techniques you are applying. I have enjoyed that, but it has also got me asking questions and trying to understand the "why" of it. Ironically, the results I have gotten with the ColourSpace calibrations have been better than the other software solutions by their own metrics (the ColourSpace LUTs test better than then other packages LUTs using their own verification tests!).

From a new ColourSpace user who has only recently traded-up from Calman.

I really have enjoyed using Colorspace quite a bit. I really appreciate how the program collects data and allows you to do analysis and experiment with different approaches. I have a much better understanding of what it means to validate a calibration after using your program. The discussion we had this morning would not have been possible (to my knowledge) using Calman. In fact, I would have thought there was an issue with the best LUT because it would look the it is covering a smaller gamut.

I am still intimidated by the details of video science, but I feel I have made a lot of progress since getting your program! And the support has been amazing as well. I feel my money has been really well invested in getting this product.

From a new ColourSpace user, who has just traded-up from Calman:

I started watching your video guides for ColourSpace on youtube yesterday and had huge buyer's remorse for my purchase of Calman Home.

From a pro-calibrator, comparing LG TV calibration with ColourSpace and DeviceControl vs. Calman:

Today I received a call from one of my customers who owns a 77 inch LG CX I calibrated last week.

He was worried because his wife did a factory reset, and so the custom 3D LUT was erased. Instead of revisiting him and running a completely new calibration, I could reupload the LUT remotely and set everything up with the help of my notes.

The customer was pleased again because I only needed less than 10 minutes to rearrange everything. The accuracy of ColourSpace, in combination with the endless flexibility of Device Control, is everything every professional calibrator or enthusiast needs, period.

Form a user who traded-up from Calman a short time back:

I came from another calibration software specific to LG (you know the one) and was disappointed with the results. When I saw Ted's demonstrations of the LUTs created by it (Pizza Hut logo LOL) I decided to purchase CS and give it a go. With plenty of patience on Ted's part on account of this newb he was eventually able to help me get to ALL GREEN! Thank you @ConnecTEDDD for all your help!

Thanks also to @liberator72, @Anger.miki, biasi, and @Light Illusion for all your guys' work to get me to a reference quality calibration!! I'm sure there's more people to thank but I'm a newbie to this calibration stuff so forgive me if I don't know everybody that has contributed.

All Green means the calibration has a dE <1 globally.

And from another user, responding to the above comments:

I can only agree, really amazing stuff and the effort these guys has done to make it possible is really worth all the praise.

Calibration Result

The difference in colour is very noticeable, skin-tones and other memory colours are much more lifelike and organic.
Really happy with the results!

From a new ColourSpace user:

I would like to share and summarise my experience with ColurSpace, just in one word: ex-cel-lent. Thanks to a lot of timely help from Ted, and his PGenerator and DeviceControl templates I was able to calibrate my SDR (Day, Night and Game modes), HDR (I own a Vertex) and Dolby Vision utilising ColourSpace.

I am going to show only my results for my Night (100 nits) SDR calibration, it will suffice to prove my point, I reckon:

As you can see, one, just one orange point after a run of 1,000 points verification, colour me impressed guys!

I decided to go with ColourSpace after seeing all the drama around other solutions not being able to calibrate properly my LG CX and after trying it without much success.

Once more, thank you @ConnecTEDDD for all your help, mate, and thank you @Light Illusion —Steve—, for such a fine piece of software.

From a new home calibrator, who initially went with Calman, and then traded-up to ColourSpace:

I would like to give a huge thank you to Ted, topman for being so patient and so helpful and so responsive at all time of day and night.
I also went from Calman to Colorspace and I am really impressed by the result and the help provided.
I did my first sdr calibration and it went very well.

Ted (at www.displaycalibrations.com) really is an amazing resource for those in need of calibration support, and is the main reason Light Illusion initially started to provided Home Cinema versions of LightSpace.

From a Calman and ColourSpace user:

...thanks for the quick i1d3 black reading fix... Amazing how you guys fix something and release a new build within hours, yet Calman can't even get a download link to work, and when it does the software keeps crashing to desktop all the time

Really like the new remote control features too!!

Look forward to seeing what future developments you add. Keep up the great work!!!!

This, from a Calman user, really says all that needs to be said..:

I love this software, it took me a week and a bit to understand how the eco-system works, but once I got a grasp of it (only scratching the surface if it ), it really makes so much sense. When I compare this to Calman there is no competition, not just the fact that it just works but how you can manage your workflows, making new AWP is so easy, organizing your saved profiles (nightmare on Calman) list goes on.
There was so much thought put into developing this choosing function first over style, but allows beginners like me to get great results due to the awesome guides by Leon, Ted and Steve's video's (sip of Tea ). I have now got my C9 calibrated with D-Nice's AWP in SDR, HDR and DV.

I have never seen my Tv look so good, Calman put me off Tv Calibration, ColourSpace pulled me back in with great interest and a new love for this hobby. I don't feel restricted and have complete freedom to explore. The "Manage Spaces" is just a work of art and makes life so easy knowing that you have all your long hours of calibrating saved ready to go.

Thanks again

From a prospective ColourSpace user, presently having what are common issues with Calman:

I have a 55" LG CX OLED TV and I have been trying to calibrate it using the Calman Home for LG software, the LG iTPG and a ColorMunki Photo spectrometer with banding and other problems. I would like to try using ColourSpace to get a better result...
