Question about Augmented Grayscale use.

Hi, Steve. Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year. I have a question about the RGB separation results I got last night using the Augmented Grayscale process to generate a 3D LUT in my Lumagen Radiance 20xx processor. I generated the initial 3D LUT followed by a Gray Scale Only Quick Profile for verification. RGB separation looked perfect. I then decided to see what would happen if I tried the augmented gray scale process to produce another 3D LUT. Following generation and upload of that LUT, I did a verification with the Primary and Secondary Quick Profile and was surprised to see a "knee" and apparent clipping for all 3 colors at 0.85, 0.85 on the RGB Separation chart. Can you think of any reason this may be happening?

To be honest, sounds like user error, but I have no idea why/what.

Would need a lot more info to try to understand the problem. Ideally a video to see the steps you took.

Honestly, I'm not sure where user error would have entered into it. It was the same session, same meter (which hadn't moved), a 3-tube CRT RPTV so no worries about OLED heating, dark room conditions, etc. Thank you, though.

If you can provide more info on the workflow, as well as the original profile, with the Augment profile added, I can have a look at what may have gone wrong.

But, the Augment process works as it should, so it is difficult to guess your issue without more info.

It kinda sounds like a data vs. TV legal issue though, based on you mentioning clipping?

Do you need just the profiles, or profiles plus the LUTs? By the way, a change between Full and Limited had also occurred to me, but I'm not as familiar with LightSpace as I probably should be so I don't know how it would have been changed between runs.

Well, I went back and compared the pre-augmented LUT with the post-augmented LUT. The data points for each were identical in that region above 0.85, 0.85 where I was seeing the clipping after installing the augmented LUT, so I agree with you that there was an error on my end. I'm still not sure where that came from, as the meter remained in place, the TV remained on, yada, yada, yada. But I feel you won't need to take a look after all. Enjoy your New Year's Eve!

Just a followup on my issue earlier with color clipping after installing an Augmented LUT. The set I was working with then was a CRT, and apparently my I1D3 doesn't like AIO mode with that TV and works better in Frequency mode - no clipping at all tonight with a regular or Augmented data LUT.

You are very welcome, Steve. I don't want to be someone who shares an issue but doesn't return to share a solution when it's found. Hope it helps someone else someday.
