QD OLED Perceptual White Point - FSI XMP550

Hi,

is there still the need to do a manual perceptual white point offset for QD OLEDs like the FSI XMP550 or the new XMP31031?

In the step by step calibration pdf for Colourspace on the FSI website it doesn't mention it at all.

https://www.flandersscientific.com/calibration/XMP/XMP-ColourSpace.pdf

I would just like to know as this makes calibrating always quite a bit mor cumbersome..

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
All the best

I would suggest asking FSI that question.
It is not specifically a ColourSpace question.

True that.

I just was hoping to get some unbiased opinions from calibration experts here..

As ColourSpace integration is identical for all the FSI XM/P range we have had no need to have access to the new monitors.
We therefore have run no calibration tests on them, so can't make any comment.

Bram posted comment for this question on other forum:

Our suggestion is to use these at standard 0.3127, 0.3290. The SPD is not like the SPD of older RGB OLEDs and in all of our demonstrations and installs of QD-OLEDs so far users seem quite content with standard 0.3127, 0.3290. If you want to create a custom white point cal you can of course, but I don't suggest it.

Thank you.

FYI I've just received this email from FSI:

Quote:
That is not a necessity. You would only do a perceptual white point adjustment when using multiple monitors in the same viewing environment when they are of differing display technologies. In a situation like that you would first select what will be your primary monitor and then match your other displays to the primary monitor.

That exactly in my color grading room, my primary Eizo CG319x, C9 for client view and matched with Eizo.
