Problems creating patch set

When I use the method on your website to try and find which points to create a 20 point patch set for white point calibration on my TCL TV the values I get seem to be weird for example point 1 gets values 33,33,33 and point 2 gets values 34,34,34 other values seem likely and the point 20 value comes to 218,218,218 rather than what I would expect it to be 235,235,235 what could be wrong.

Have you re-set the TV's brightness/contrast settings to their default?
I've not tested a TCL TV, as the one we have for our development work has 3D LUT capability, but with many TVs if the brightness/contrast settings are not set to their default value the control point can be skewed.

I have added an example RGB Balance graph to the example info in Advanced Operation.

Thanks for your reply I will try this and let you know if it helps.

Another question should this be done with the 2 point calibration done or without it. If so what points do you recommend the default 30 - 80 or 30 - 100.

Thanks

It 'should' make no difference...
But, you use the same technique to define the 2 point adjustment values.

So I should max out green on the gain and minimise blue for the offset to get the points? And am I free to change the brightness and contrast after this to the values I use without altering the results when I go to do the calibration.

Doesn't actually matter what colours you use, and you could use one channel only for any point mapping...
Using all three helps with the graph reading though.
But, best to not use red with 100%, especially if you have already calibrated the WP.

Thanks again then after this can I return the brightness and contrast values to the ones i use without messing up anything?

I can't answer that, as it is possible making changes may alter the calibration...
That all depends on the TV's internal signal path.
You will need to test.

Thanks I don't necessarily mean with the calibration being done I mean after finding the control points. But I assume if I change it it will likely mess with those and cause the calibration to be off so maybe I should leave them at their default value if that works.

I was just wondering if the control points seem off if I must use a specific brightness and contrast which obscures the control points is it OK to use these to calibrate and just accept that it might not be the best. Also since point 1 and 20 are off should I replace them with the usual values 27,27,27 and 235,235,235.
