Greetings, all. First time user here. I am a freelance colorist trying to up my game. I just bought an LG C4 TV and a Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G, at the recommendation of some of the folks at Lift Gamma Gain. I am planning on renting the ColourSpace LTE calibrator with my DataColor SpyderX Pro to calibrate the TV, which is connected to my Mac Mini through the UltraStudio.

Can anyone walk me through the process? I was told that Light Illusion does not provide support for rentals. I read the manual here, but it seems there are A LOT of moving parts and I want to make absolutely sure I get it right. I may be coloring a feature-length documentary that will appear in theaters and my reputation depends on getting it right the first time.

Also, I noticed the price was listed in pounds. I'm assuming it still ships to the US? How long might that take?

Thank you very much for your time.

For just the LG TV, with the Spyder probe, you would only need ColourSpace HTL.
And you can purchase via the website, with the software being a direct download.

And the guide you want is the LG User Guide, with the 3D LUT Guide - not the Manual Calibration guide you linked to.

Since you will use the Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G device, you will need LTE to use Resolve as TPG.

ColourSpace is Windows software; you will need Parallels with Windows 11 PRO (or other VM software).

In the future, It will be available a native macOS ColourSpace. (no ETA)

The macOS customers of ColourSpace will get a free license for that version.

You can get customer support from me if you purchase ColourSpace LTE from here:

It's available a guide also:

Thanks, ConnecTED and Steve. I use a Mac Mini for my color work. Will I not be able to use the software with it? Is there a workaround that I will need to do?

The second line in Ted's post above explains what you need to do to run ColourSpace on a Mac. ColourSpace is currently Windows-only so you have to set up a Windows emulation on your Mac..

My brother has a Windows laptop that I can borrow. I have an UltraStudio 3G. Do I need to plug that into the laptop? How should I connect the TV to the laptop?

You would use the Resolve system to send the calibration patches to the TV via the video card.
The Windows laptop connects to Resolve via your network, and tells Resolve what patches to display.

Thanks! These seem simple enough.

1. I have an M1 Mac Mini. Will that make a difference for the "Resolve video card"?
2. Should I use full, legal, or extended? Currently, when I output to the TV from Resolve, I use "video" and it matches my monitor very closely. When I select "full" it looks more saturated.

1) you will need to check with BMD what 'video card' can be used with your mac.
2) That is all dependent on your grading workflow, and is not specific to calibration.

This is what Resolve says it is using as a GPU:

The GPU is not the 'dedicated video card', and its use is for image manipulation within Resolve.
You will need to discuss this with Resolve users, as the understanding is critical for grading, and is not specific to ColourSpace calibration.

Started a thread on Blackmagic forum. Hopefully get some answers before Wednesday.

I am thinking, though, that the "dedicated video card" is the M1 chip itself.

No - a dedicated video card is one from BMD, or AJA, etc.
For example: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/products/decklink
or: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudio/techspecs/W-DLUS-12

Oh! So the question is what video card my UltraStudio 3G has, not what my Mac Mini has?

No - The UltraStudio 3G 'is' the dedicated video card.
